The director of ''Are You Sure?!'' for Forbes

Forbes interviewed director Jun Soo Park and revealed some details about the filming of “Are You Sure?!”.

• On filming the show:

Before enlisting for mandatory military service, Jimin and JungKook wanted to take one more road trip and film it so fans could virtually tag along. The idea was to create content similar to the travel reality show BTS Bon Voyage, where all the members traveled together. The result of that 2023 road trip became “Are You Sure?”

• On the show’s name:

The show’s name was a collaborative effort between the K-pop idols and the production team, but according to director Jun Soo Park, the title was inspired by a question Jimin asked more than once.

👤 It was thanks to Jimin, who kept asking ‘Are You Sure?’ throughout filming, that the final title came to be that.

• The reason for three locations:

The itinerary includes a trip to the US, then Jeju Island in Korea, and then Sapporo, Japan, but the original plan didn’t cover much of the world. First, the production team suggested a trip to the US because Jimin and JungKook had never been there on a casual trip.

👤 When they set off for the US, they had no plans to go to the second or third location: Jeju Island and Sapporo. They were disappointed to end the trip in the US and also wanted to do something else as a gift for fans. With that in mind, they proposed the idea of continuing the trip to Jeju Island and Japan. After starting with the US, they traveled to the other locations at intervals of two to three months.

• Before starting the trip, the production team asked Jimin and JungKook if there were any foods or activities they wanted to try in those regions. They then used the answers to design the itinerary, acting as travel guides to prepare various options for the BTS members to choose from.

👤 It's a reality show that fully reflects the two members' ideas. From the beginning, the show was largely developed in collaboration with Jimin and JungKook, who actively shared their ideas about places and activities they wanted to explore.

👤 While searching for a place two hours away from New York where Jimin and JungKook could relax in nature and try out the different activities they wanted, we stumbled upon Connecticut. It was a place we weren't familiar with at first, but it fit perfectly with what we intended to do, so we headed to Connecticut as the first destination of our trip.

• Although the cast and crew tried to avoid drawing attention to themselves, it's hard to be as famous as BTS and not be recognized by someone. They occasionally were. However, being recognized didn't present any problems thanks to fans who respectfully gave them space. 👤 We were able to find and film in quiet locations for the most part. But we were still prepared to handle any situation that might arise in those places. Fortunately, we didn't attract much attention while filming and the entire trip went smoothly. Also, the fans, who met the members on the streets, were very considerate towards Jimin and JungKook and because of this, we were able to finish filming in safe and pleasant conditions.
